Lately I've been using the Make Noise Strega synth in lots of my productions and I've been slowly exploring it's capabilities and figuring out just exactly what it does. It can be a little intimidating from its appearance, but when you delve into the Make Noise ethos and way of working (which is to pretty much just have lots of fun) you're 99% of the way there.

I had the idea of doing an EP using the just Strega and a few fx pedals to show how powerful this little box truly is and what you can do with turning a few knobs. It also has these really cool touch sensors on it that you 'patch' with your fingers to connect different sound changing sources - it's so much fun to use and creates so much lovely noise. I highly recommend grabbing one if you're looking for something like what you can hear in the EP.

Here's 5 tracks utilising very simple patches that I love to use and a little reverb/delay from a bunch of choice pedals. I'll be doing more volumes in this series as it's super fun to be limited in equipment and it's a good chance to learn more about the kit I'm using every day. REALLY wish I'd subscribed sooner to be able to enjoy this on vinyl! Curious the artist cited 12 Monkeys and not La Jetee as one of the key inspirations. For me, this has a more somber, introspective and timeless feel more akin to La Jetee than 12 Monkeys (though I also am a big fan of Terry Gilliam). Gorgeous music and you get the bonus of a list of excellent movies to enjoy (another note to the artist: Time Crimes is also a good film to watch). Now to somehow procure a vinyl copy...
