about

When Lee Hardcastle's email dropped into my inbox asking me to take a look at his latest animation and if I'd compose it's soundtrack I didn't expect it to be quite as brutal and bizarre as this.

I've been a fan of Lee's work for years and I'd worked with him before on the equally nauseating 'Curtains' and also a few shorts/end credit bonus material (for 'Bait' and 'Attack Of The Adult Babies'), so I had a decent idea of the type of thing he'd be sending over and what kind of music he'd probably like. Basically - he's an incredible animator and writer, and his vision for his projects is quite brilliant. He's passionate about music and knows how to direct a composer into getting the exact mood and tone so damn well.

So after I'd watched 'Cell-X' for the first time without a soundtrack I knew that I'd have to bring something ear-splittingly destructive out of the bag as well as a few unsettling tender moments.
I had an absolute blast working on this one and managed to throw everything at it from analogue synths to 'Shining' inspired strings to creepy electronica. It's pretty much non-stop from the start and totally outrageous.

Watch the film here and strap in for a wild ride...
