What can be said about this short animation?!?! It's utterly bizarre and probably one of the most terrifying things you'll ever witness, and I was lucky enough to be asked to write the music for it.

If you don't know Lee Hardcastle's work already, he's an INCREDIBLE claymation animator and has worked on some brilliant projects (even John Carpenter is a fan of his). His work is all on YouTube anyway, so have a good ol' look around his channel.

We'd worked on a few little bits previous to 'Curtains', and one day he contacted me about an animation series he was putting together called 'Spook Train', which would be a horror anthology of sorts based around bizarre and creepy tales and characters. 'Curtains' would be the first episode and he wanted me to put a soundtrack together that would highlight the extreme and visceral nature of the visuals.

After watching the first cut of the animation I was totally floored, and I started to work on some seriously eerie music and brutal sounds that brought the project to life. The results are here for you to listen to in full.
It's a combination of OTT horror music and vintage sounding sci-fi textures, and there's even some 'demonic laughter' I recorded right at the end of the final track and final scene.

REALLY wish I'd subscribed sooner to be able to enjoy this on vinyl! Curious the artist cited 12 Monkeys and not La Jetee as one of the key inspirations. For me, this has a more somber, introspective and timeless feel more akin to La Jetee than 12 Monkeys (though I also am a big fan of Terry Gilliam). Gorgeous music and you get the bonus of a list of excellent movies to enjoy (another note to the artist: Time Crimes is also a good film to watch). Now to somehow procure a vinyl copy...
